The Planetary

What is esteemed global and what local is defined by culture, technology, and media. “Global thinking” stands in relation to “local thinking”. Differentiating this constellation one gets the same effect: Whereas globalization takes part in the aftermath of communication technology, the world’s knowledge is spread by communication media, which are culturally set apart. The term of the planetary allows us to assign those independences and linkages in their respective historical and infrastructural contexts and to explore them critically.
